Construction, fit-out and operational approvals across Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai Airport Free Zone and Dubai CommerCity.
What DIEZ governs
Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority is the umbrella body formed from the merger of three free zones. It regulates construction, fit-out and operational permits across all three, each of which retains some of its own procedural character despite the common ownership.
Zones covered
- Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) — mixed technology, residential and retail
- Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZA) — logistics, aviation and trade
- Dubai CommerCity — e-commerce and digital trade
What the review covers
Architectural and MEP design review, fire and life safety, and zone-specific operational requirements. DAFZA units in particular carry additional considerations owing to their proximity to airport operations and customs-controlled areas.
Typical timeline
Fit-out approvals generally run 10 to 20 working days depending on the zone and the complexity of the works. Warehouse and logistics units with racking, mezzanines or specialist storage attract a longer structural and fire review.
